Xactimate prices roof tear-off under the roofing activity selector (RFG) using roofing-trade labor — labor that carries roofing’s workers’-compensation burden. But tear-off is demolition work. Per WC class code 5551, when the removal line prices above the state threshold, the labor should be reallocated to the demolition trade (DMO) to meet Xactimate guidelines — priced as what it is, not what it’s next to.
It cuts both ways, and that’s the point: a carrier estimate that prices tear-off as cheap demo labor while paying roofing-trade rates nowhere else is exposed by the same logic — that’s the workers’-comp audit rule the Sextant runs on every claim. Record whether the change was triggered and whether the carrier conceded it; the concession ledger is how arguments become evidence.
Thresholds are per-state. Texas = >$90/SQ (verified). Do not carry the $90 figure into other states — each state’s threshold gets supplied as it’s verified.
